19% of undergraduates in 2015–16 reported having a disability (National Center for Education Statistics). However, students experience significant barriers when instructors do not provide the requested accommodations and communication falls through.

The Student Disability Center at UC Davis (SDC) provides crucial services, including facilitating the process of getting accommodations. These are services that students with disabilities receive for their classes, such as extended time for exams and preferential seating.

Thus, to streamline communication between affected parties and improve awareness of the accommodations process, my partner and I redesigned My SDC Online, the online student portal for requesting and managing accommodations crucial to students’ academic success.
